Meet the Team: Marcel Mulderij

Meet Marcel, a 48 years old account manager, and part of the Voerman Group since 2017. Before his time at Voerman Group, Marcel had unique and diverse careers. Marcel is truly a jack of all trades! Curious? Then read on…

From shoes to relocations

Marcel hasn’t always been in the moving world, he studied real estate and then transitioned into the role of a financial planner. “I have always been good with finances and numbers” he said. His career path took a completely different turn when he, together with his then-girlfriend, started working in their own shoe stores. In addition, he also had his own watch brand ‘Mullot’ and released a line in collaboration with former Dutch International and Ajax player Andy van der Meijde. However, he wanted to do something else, and that’s how his moving adventure in Prague began.

Own international moving experiences

Before his time at Voerman Group, Marcel spent 4 years in Prague with Sirva Moving & Relocation and another 1.5 years in Budapest with the moving company NSEW. In those years abroad he mastered the art of managing international relocations. As Marcel himself pointed out:

“Once you start in the moving world, you either leave very quickly, or you stay in it forever.”

When Marcel lived in Budapest, life took a sudden unexpected turn when he had to move back to the Netherlands due to health concerns. An old colleague of Marcel, Matt Andrisani (now working for Harmony Relocation), acted as a matchmaker and connected Marcel with Wiebe for a role at Voerman Group in the Netherlands. And this marked the start of his career at Voerman Group, where he has now been working for 6 years!

The good things in life

Marcel resides in Apeldoorn (quite a distance from the office, indeed). Outside the moving world, Marcel embraces “the good things in life.” You will often find him in restaurants, in the pub with friends and a drink in his hand, at concerts or at home with a good glass of wine. Travel is also one of his passions. He takes annual trips to the Canary Islands with friends, likes city trips, diving trips, and enjoys visiting wine tastings abroad.

Of course, he has to balance all this and fortunately, his city is surrounded by forests where he can enjoy sports in nature. “I love to do (trail) running or go on my mountain bike for a nice ride through nature”. He just signed up to do a 10 English Miles run in February together with Wiebe, “feel free to join us or come to support us!”
