Import duties on personal effects reduced with 50% in Russia from the first of January 2020

From the first of January 2020, the import duties levied on all personal effects to Russia will be reduced from 4 euros per kg to 2 euros per kg. The changes of the custom legislation of the Russian Federation were taken in accordance with Decision No. 107 of the Council of Eurasian Economic Union dated from 20^th of December 2017.

The Russian government is encouraging the inflow of expats to the country to enrich their human resources with qualifications, diversity and make Russia a popular destination for people from all over the world.

Furthermore, the living conditions are better now due to a lower exchange rate which makes living in the country and the housing market affordable. For example, for a one-bed room apartment, the rent is 500 euros per month.
